Special Interest Groups

After spending a year on developing mechanism of establishing and vetting Special Interest Group (SIG), the College is delighted to announce that the following three SIGs have been formed.

  • Medicolegal SIG
  • Neuroanaesthesia and Perioperative Neuroscience SIG
  • Regional Anaesthesia SIG

If you are interested in joining the SIGs and learning more about their objectives, please go to the SIGs webpage.  We expect those fellows / members who have indicated joining the SIGs could complete the respective registration form so that the list of membership could be accurate and comprehensive.

It has been extremely rewarding to see the positive responses on setting up SIGs, and bring those like-minded fellows and members together. If you want to start a new SIG, you can find the Terms of Reference of SIGs, and application to create a SIG in the SIGs webpage.

World Congress of Anaesthesiologists (WCA) 2024

The President and CEO of the College, along with numerous fellows and trainees from Hong Kong and overseas, attended the WCA 2024 in Singapore. This marked a significant show of support from our College to our friends in Singapore who successfully organised an insightful and stimulating conference that provided a lively atmosphere for networking and collaboration.

Updates on ANZCA Emerging Leaders Conference (ELC)

Despite some unforeseen circumstances, the original nominee selected to attend the ANZCA ELC is unable to attend, the Council has chosen Dr Anna Fung, who is also highly qualified to represent Young Fellows of Hong Kong at the event. The College is confident that Dr Fung will make valuable contributions to the conference and serve as a great representative of HKCA. Looking forward to the insights she is going to bring back to share with our fellows and members.

At the WCA 2024, a meeting with ANZCA was held to discuss the format of the future ELC to be held in Hong Kong. More details will be announced soon.

Basic Medical Education Course

To enhance the capacity of our provisional fellows and fellows in the knowledge and skills in post-graduate medical education and residency training, the Board of Education of the College, in collaboration with Hong Kong Academy of Medicine organised a Basic Medical Education Course (BMEC) on 20th January via Zoom and on 3rd February 2024 at the HKAM Building.

The objectives are for provisional fellows, fellows and supervisors-of-training to experience and to actualise the contemporary learning theories and trends instead of just learning by didactic teaching — through a demonstration on how we put everything important into practice to maximise learning.
