International Scientific Meeting in Anaesthesiology 2014, 22-23 November 2014

The Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCoA), The College of Anaesthetists of Ireland (CAI), The Society of Anaesthetists of Hong Kong (SAHK) and The Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists (HKCA) will jointly conduct the International Scientific Meeting in Anaesthesiology (ISMA) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 22-23 November 2014. This meeting will incorporate the 25th Anniversary of the HKCA, the 60th Anniversary of the SAHK and the 4th Cross Strait Four Region Anaesthesia Quality Meeting.

 

Formal Project

The Formal Project Officers would like to remind the trainees again that a reasonable amount of time is required during the process of reviewing a project submission. In general, it takes 1-2 months to review the formal project and additional time is further required if revisions are necessary. It is recommended that trainees should plan ahead especially for those who wish to sit for the exit assessment.

Echocardiography Preceptorship

Two echocardiography preceptorship courses have been conducted successfully in December 2013 and March 2014. The feedbacks from the participants were so positive that the College is going to sponsor 9 more fellows / members to attend another 3 courses, which is to be run by Ruttonjee Hospital starting from October 2014, March 2015 and July 2015 respectively. Each course will consist of 6 half-day sessions in 6 weeks. For details of the programme and application form, please visit here.



Recruitment of Instructors for Ultrasound Regional Anaesthesia Course

The College is now recruiting instructors to help in training up fellows / members of the College in the area of ultrasound regional anaesthesia. It will be a whole day course and the first course will be held in the latter half of 2015. The College has appointed Dr Yau-Leung Ho as the Director of the course. If you are interested in teaching this course, please contact Ms Marleana Yip at simulation@hkca.edu.hk.


 

Curriculum on Echocardiography

A newly established curriculum on Echocardiography submitted by echocardiography committee was approved by the Council on 11 August 2014. Please check it out here.



E-Portfolio for Intensive Care Medicine Trainees

The E-Portfolio is now covering Intensive Care Medicine Trainees. The College has created and sent the login details to all the ICM SOTs. Could all the ICM trainees please check whether there are any missing or incorrect data. Starting from January 2014, all Vocational Training (VT) forms and In Training Assessment (ITA) forms are to be submitted via the E-Portfolio.



Intensive Care Nephrology BEYOND BASIC - Instructor and Provider courses

The Intensive Care Nephrology Inteructor and Provider courses will be organized on 4-5 September 2014 at Prince of Wales Hospital. The details can be downloaded here.
